Lopez had went back and forth from 120-126 looking for competition. I would be surprised to see him go up for state but who knows.
Dejong has been at 120 all season what makes anyone think he’s moving now?
I’m not saying McLaughlin can’t make It through districts but he has lost to McGill and Cook this year. Both who are in the same district so most likely he will face one of those two along with Steinlage.
Here are my predictions
Sec. 9 106- Jimenez, Smith 113: Strohmeye, Walston (they had a heck of a match this weekend) 120: Cassady, Pierick (districts will be interesting since Pierick just beat Dejong) 126: Steinlage, McGill (cook maybe but I’m leaning towards McGill) 132: Smith, Lundy (maybe Rea depending on how he shows up. He’s been back and forth this year) 138: Jimenez, Steinlage 145: Mintle,Shall (even as a freshman Mintle seems to know when to turn it up so it’s hard to bet against him) 152: Dunsbergen, Hiemstra 160: Cassady, Ross (I don’t think this weight has many kids) 170: Dierking, Ammons 182: Sampson, Metz 195: Montgomery, Mintle 220: Dierking , ? 285: Kauffman , Roquet
I thought I would go over my predictions and see where I was wrong
Sec. 9 106- Jimenez, Smith- this was an easy prediction and went how I expected 113: Strohmeye, Walston (they had a heck of a match this weekend). Strohmeye definitely learned from last weeks match and game planned perfectly so this one went as predicted. 120: Cassady, Pierick (districts will be interesting since Pierick just beat Dejong). This really surprised me. I had cassady absolutely winning. Gibson has really stepped up his game and beat both Pierick and cassady with Pierick taking second. 126: Steinlage, McGill (cook maybe but I’m leaning towards McGill). This went as expected and I expect these two to also go 1&2 at districts. 132: Smith, Lundy (maybe Rea depending on how he shows up. He’s been back and forth this year). This was a good match and went as expected. 138: Jimenez, Steinlage . This went as expected. 145: Mintle,Shall (even as a freshman Mintle seems to know when to turn it up so it’s hard to bet against him) I know I went dark horse predicting Mintle would win it (even if he seems injured) it’s just too hard to bet against Mintle that kid can game! 152: Dunsbergen, Hiemstra - this bracket didn’t even lay out anywhere near what I expected. Stephens bumping up threw me off. Hirmstra snd green came to wrestle though. 160: Cassady, Ross (I don’t think this weight has many kids). Stephens bumping up threw me off here. I would have said him and cassady 1&2. 170: Dierking, Ammons. I didn’t know a lot of these kids so I was guessing here but sweet wrestled great. 182: Sampson, Metz- rumor had it that Sampson just came off covid protocol so I wonder how much they played into today. He looked tired. 195: Montgomery, Mintle - this played out exactly how expected. 220: Dierking , ?. I didn’t know enough to say much in this one. 285: Kauffman , Roquet- Schlosser with the upset over Roquet definitely made this one go haywire! I would say between this and 120 were the big upsets of the day!

Roquet going doing down was the biggest upset of the day by far. He's ranked #9 I believe so that really helps out the kids on the other side. 120 was a rather large upset as well with the PVILLE kid coming to wrestle. Cassady is young and looked frazzled, he will be good moving forward but it just wasn't his day. Darst beating Ammons at 170 was a little suprising but Darst was a district qualifier last year. He caught Ammons in a cement mixer.
My predictions: 106- Ervin, Jimenez 113- Strohmeyer, Golston 120- Lopez, Gibson 126- Steinlage, Mgill 132- Lundy, Smith 138- Jimenez, Jones (Jones v Steinlage is going to be a great first round match) 145- Lopez, Cobb 152- Glendenning, Heimstra 160- Cassady, Golston (I think Golston beats Clarahan in the true 2nd) 170- Dierking, Pickle (Pickle wins in the true 2nd) 182- Juhl, Sampson (Sampson wins in wrestleback) 195- Jacobs, Streigle 220- Vonnahme, Tedrow 285- Goematt, Kauffman
