Who do you have coming out from the other sectional and ultimately district? I am not as familiar with some of those teams. Here's kinda what I have: *I have heard Lopez may be going 126, he's been there the last few meets... 106: Moravia, Jimenez 113: Strohymeyer, Walston (no idea about the other side here) 120: Lopez, and either Cassady or Pierick (forgot about him). 126: Stienlage, Dejong (if Lopez is here though its a toss-up for second) 132: Smith, Lundy (no idea about the other side here) 138: Jimenez, Steinlage/Jones 145: Lopez, Schall/Mintle/Frescoln (this weight should be fun) 152: Glendening, Baker (Stevens could make noise here) 160: Cassady, Golston/Clarahan (this weight is loaded with 3 ranked kids) 170: Dierking, Pickle 182: Juhl, Sampson 195: Jacobs, Montgomery 220: Vonnahme, Dierking 285: Goematt, Kaufmann
Lopez had went back and forth from 120-126 looking for competition. I would be surprised to see him go up for state but who knows.
Dejong has been at 120 all season what makes anyone think he’s moving now?
I’m not saying McLaughlin can’t make It through districts but he has lost to McGill and Cook this year. Both who are in the same district so most likely he will face one of those two along with Steinlage.
Here are my predictions
Sec. 9 106- Jimenez, Smith 113: Strohmeye, Walston (they had a heck of a match this weekend) 120: Cassady, Pierick (districts will be interesting since Pierick just beat Dejong) 126: Steinlage, McGill (cook maybe but I’m leaning towards McGill) 132: Smith, Lundy (maybe Rea depending on how he shows up. He’s been back and forth this year) 138: Jimenez, Steinlage 145: Mintle,Shall (even as a freshman Mintle seems to know when to turn it up so it’s hard to bet against him) 152: Dunsbergen, Hiemstra 160: Cassady, Ross (I don’t think this weight has many kids) 170: Dierking, Ammons 182: Sampson, Metz 195: Montgomery, Mintle 220: Dierking , ? 285: Kauffman , Roquet
I heard Martensdale is just being cautious, they should be fine and back this weekend. Dierking wrestled this weekend at Guthrie. I35 is tough, they have several kids who could be problems this weekend. I think the toughest weights here are: 120 with Lopez (NL), Cassady (MTSM), Pierick (COLM), and Dejong (NM). 138 with Jimenez (SEW), Steinlage (I35, and Jones (PK) 160 with Cassady (MTSM), Clarahan (SK), and Golston (MOR) 285 with Kaufmann (PVILLE), Roquet (I35), Goematt (NM), Allsup (MTSM), Kent (WAY), and McCauley (SEW) I35 and New London will probably win each of their sectionals and qualify for Regional Duals.
Cassady beat Pierick at Woodward at the beginning of the year. Jimenez has beaten Steinlage twice. I don't believe either has wrestled Jones. Cassady hasn't wrestled either at 160 but split with Dierking at 170. Roquet beat Kaufmann yes, however it was a relatively fast fall so it could have been a throw or something.
145 is a weight of note too with Schall (MTSM), Mintle (LS), and Cobb (WAY). All of them will probably be competing for that second spot behind Lopez. Schall and Cobb are both returning Qualifiers. I know Cobb pinned Schall at the POI Conference Tourney.

At 145 I think Cobb is just too good for Schall or Mintle. We will see. At 120, don't forget Lunig or Palmer. Both solid. Maybe we will see a 120 pounder bump to 126 for sectionals. Maybe Pierick? Steinlage is the only lock there. At 160 you have 3 ranked guys, all are returning Qualifiers, but Cassady made a huge weight jump in one year. Can his body handle Golston or Clarahan? 120 and 160 are easily the toughest weights at the top. 106 and 126 probably the weakest.
Cassady has looked really good all year, I actually think he'll come out on top of the district. My guess would be Golston through at 2nd. Wow, 120 is loaded, that's going to be a fun one to watch. I absolutely think someone will be entered at 126 this weekend that's been at 20 all year. 106 is super weak, someone with a slightly over .500 record will probably be going to the State Tourney this year.
Which sectional/District has the most ranked wrestlers or which do you think is the toughest? I am not familiar with 1a outside of NW iowa area, but the West Sioux Sectional has 15 ranked wrestlers and the District at Sioux Central has 24 ranked wrestlers potentially advancing as well as 4 of the top 5 ranked wrestlers at 195. How are other sectionals looking any loaded ones?

I dont expect Lopez to go 126. He probably was just trying to get better competition. As for Strohmeyer, he is tall, and could be thinking he could place higher at state at 106 due to his length advantage. Making it now? He has struggled with his weight in the past. Probably didn't think he could maintain in all tear and making a big push now.
