My son decided to take up freestyle for the first time this season. And I feel a little overwhelmed and confused. I bought his USA card. And I think I figured out the age groups. But as for singlets. A lot say blue or red recommended. We have ordered blue and reds but we haven't gotten it yet so should he not compete until we get it? I'm just extremely lost trying to figure out how these tournaments run and all the information. And wether he should even compete since he is new to it.
You don't need the extra singlets to complete. Wear whatever you have available. Go to a tournament as soon as possible. They are very laid back and no one expects you to know anything. You will feel better after you go to one.

A lot of times they go through the rules, and scoring before the competition. There isn't a lot of people out there in the public that know Jack about freestyle or greco, but it's something you can pick up through going to practices and competitions. Like warhorse said, it's pretty low key and laid back, and there will likely be people there that can explain stuff if you're having questions.
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
In state the tournaments plan to have ankle bands for anyone that doesn't present in red/blue. Once you get them though it is good to wear your assigned color. Top name in each bout on the bracket is the red wrestler. It's ok to jump in there, ask questions. We tell our kiddos to "lock hands and have fun!"
