I appreciate all that officials do but the officiating at state has been consistently and absolutely terrible so far.
Why should kids bother to train and sacrifice to get to State when the refs hand out points like candy on phantom technical violations, knee jerk stall calls, and stopping pinning holds because somebody cries.
I didn’t watch duals so I don’t know how bad it was last night but from what others are posting I may have found a unicorn here - something we can all agree about.
What really puzzles me is that the past 3-4 years officiating has been almost perfect. What changed?

From what understand officiating numbers are down in all sports so the officiating pool is small from the get go. I agree something needs to be done to make all calls consistent. One official calls something different then the next official. I have heard rumors that the officials don’t get paid much to do the state tournament. I pay $10 to go into each session so you would think the funds should be there. I could be wrong though Just my opinion. We have always said to do your best to not have to rely on the official to make the right call.
