Albia's sectional look pretty stacked. Have any predictions on their sectionals?
I don't know if "stacked" is the word I would use for the Albia sectional. Half the teams have almost half their weights open. I see 5 ranked kids versus 8 ranked kids at Bondurant. Not a huge difference.
106 - Only 3 kids - Bryce Hatten (Winterset) has a good record and then a below .500 Centerville kid and the Albia girl that's got a bunch of forfeits. Hatten has a shot at state but probably will have to reverse a prior loss to Drake (PCM) 113 - Aden Reeves (Albia), Wyatt Dale (CD) I expect both of these to make state 120 - Kayden Kauzlarich (Centerville), Jack West (Winterset) - West lost to Kauzlarich 10-4 at the Centerville tournament 126 - Gabe Ruepke (Chariton), ?? I assume Ruepke is going back to 126 132 - Dominick Morris (Albia) or Terpstra (Centerville) Terpstra has the better losses so I'll take him but Morris looks big for the weight class. 138 - David Morris (Albia) and then your pick of sub 0.500 kids 145 - Bryce McKim (Albia), Luke Jones (CD) McKim beat Jones 11-2 a couple weeks ago 152 - Kade Kelso (CD), Justin Smith (Winterset) 160 - Stephen Wardlow (Centerville) has the best record but he's lost almost 20 matches. After that? 170 - After Kyle Sinnott (Albia) then Walker (CD) is the only other one with a winning record? 182 - After Ben Mason (Albia) then Kade Warren (Centerville) is the only other one with a winning record? 195 - Nathan Bair (Clarke), Terrin Pedilla (Albia) 220 - Trace Carson (CD), ?? 285 - Brad Tolley (Winterset), Taylor Good (Chariton) Tolley pinned Good at the Centerville tournament
Albia looks in the best position to win the team score. Central Decatur has some horses but a lot of open weights. Not sure if they can overcome the full lineups of Centerville or Winterset to hold 2nd. Those two each have a couple good kids that have a shot to make state but no sure things. Here's who I think makes it to state...
Very Probable - Carson (CD), Bair (Clarke) - Bair should probably be a lock but there are some experienced kids at his weight and Clarke's schedule makes me nervous. Carson dropped a match to Welch (PCM) or he would have been in my lock category
Probable - Morris (Albia 138), Kauzlarich (Centerville), Tolley (Winterset) - these three just need to do what they've been doing and I think they make it
Has a shot - West (Winterset) I like West and think he makes it but he has to beat some kids that on paper are pretty even with him.
That's only 9 out of the possible 28 district qualifiers.
