I know that cob well. Its the first national tournament my son ever won making it our favorite. Just surprised by the Venue change with the history you had at Hy-Vee hall. Also with AAU moving their state districts up to where it almost forced you to change the date of what was arguably the best state tournament in Iowa to a date other than high school state weekend makes me surprised by the partnership. I'm a huge fan of your tournaments and will continue to support them regardless of venue. I'm sure you got it figured out good luck and hope corn cob continues to get good numbers.
I was thinking the same thing about Hy-Vee hall but was hoping they have made the changes to make it a better arena for a wrestling tournament like this. We prefer the Jacobsen Center the most but I am sure it is used by too many events to be open for all dates wrestling tournaments want to use. But definitely would choose it over Hy-Vee if given the option.

We were not able to use the Jacobson Center this year for the Corn Cob Nationals. So we had to move the Venue this year to Hy-Vee Hall. They have added new bleachers which will make it MUCH better. As far as our relationship with AAU. I have always had a good relationship with everyone at AAU. Yea I was not happy they moved their State Tournament up 5 weeks. I don't think many people were. But it is what it is. I will continue to try and do what's best for our tournaments. I think Partnering up with AAU for this tournament is a great idea and I look forward to working with them.
For anyone that attended AAU District Duals last year I think they'll agree that the hy-vee hall kinks have pretty much been worked out. I'm sure there's other advantages to having them back-to-back in the same location.
I will also say, this just looks awesome!!! I have 3 wrestlers and they are all girls, I know some people out there cant stand the fact girls are allowed in this sport, so please if you feel that way move on and keep your thoughts to yourself. But while looking over the entry my kids saw the 19 and up, and are now begging me to get back on the mat(They have never seen me wrestle), only being 33 and in okay I can pass my military APFT will out getting ready for it, this is going to require me to do something, so thanks, I will be trying the out myself as well.
I agree there are probably some folks out there that will not know about this tournament unless it is listed... but I would guess that most of the people that would attend this tournament or travel to a tournament already know about it. It is becoming a pretty good High School level tournament that is drawing a lot of out of state kids to it each year. I am not saying it compares to anything like Fargo not even the same planet, but it is still a pretty good out of season tournament to attend. On the youth side of things you tend to get a lot of the same kids you see at Preseason Nationals, Iowa Grade School, and the USA/AAU state tournaments. So again the majority will know when it is... but you are correct I am sure there are a few out there that will miss it because they just didn't know. Maybe next year...
This is a well known, established tournament with over 900 wrestlers last year. It also has a featured banner ad on the tournament listing page. It doesn't seem to be lacking in advertisement. Not to mention the reminder emails that you get about Keck tourneys if you have ever attended one. So not sure it really matters if it is actually on the list or not. But I suppose it doesn't hurt. lol

Well there ya go... problem solved and confirmed by the director of the tournament.... but I still agree with others this thing has gained a reputation now for good competition at all levels and is quickly gaining steam in the high school market.

Brian, on the corncob web page I think the weigh in information needs updated. Are you following what you did for grade school? Are you taking duel weights? (Hope not) I personally like the GSS weigh in process & it keeps the drama papas out of the loop.
